The Paracas History Museum has some of Peru’s most remarkable archaeological treasures. This museum has received worldwide attention for its display of elongated human skulls unearthed in 1928 by Peruvian archaeologist Julio Tello. The unusual skulls have split opinion, with some suggesting they are proof of extraterrestrial presence, some alleging they are forgeries, and yet others deciding they are simply oddities.
The truth is probably a little less dramatic: the skulls were most likely the consequence of head-binding rituals among Peru’s ancient indigenous societies. Whatever your perspective, the collection of oddly shaped skulls is immensely mesmerizing, and it’s worth a detour to have a look.

Lima hotel transfer.
4:30 am
We will pick you up from your hotel in Lima at 4:30 am. Then, we will travel to the Paracas National Reserve, where we will be arriving around 7:40. After having breakfast at a local restaurant, we will head towards the Paracas port. Once there, we will board a boat to the famous Ballestas Islands.
Along the route, we will spot the legendary Paracas Chandelier, a giant geoglyph located next to the Pacific Ocean. Once at the Ballestas Islands, you will be able to appreciate the incredible biodiversity of Peru’s coast. You will spot numerous penguins, sea lions, and sea birds. Then, we will visit the Flamingo viewpoint, the Cathedral; and the beaches of Playa Lagunilla, Playa Roja, and Playa Yumaque.
After returning to Paracas port, you will have a guided tour of the Paracas History Museum. You will see numerous pre columbian ceramics found in the Peruvian coastal desert. Most of the things displayed in the museum are the cultural remains of the Paracas civilization, which dominated Peru’s coast during the first century.
The Paracas civilization is known for its unique ceramic look that resembles sea animals. You will also find ancient Paracas textiles and strange elongated skulls. The site museum is perfect for learning about the rich pre-Inca history of the Paracas desert.
Finally, we will go to a seafood restaurant to have lunch. Then, we will return to Lima city.
