Sacred Valley Tour from Cusco

0
Overview

The Sacred Valley Cusco, also known as the Urubamba Valley, is one of the most visited places in the region of Cusco. There are numerous Inca ruins and monuments scattered around this valley. This place was highly appreciated by the Incas due to its unique geography and weather.

Chinchero is one of the most famous places of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. This small colonial village houses the beautiful Chinchero church, which was built on top of an Inca royal palace. The Chinchero church is famous for its delicate religious mural paintings.

Ollantaytambo is another of the most visited spots in the Sacred Valley. According to the Spanish chronicler Pedro Sarmiento de Gamboa, Ollantaytambo was built in the XV century under the reign of Inca Pachacutec. It served as a palace for the Inca nobility, but was later used as a fortress by Manco Inca during the Spanish conquest of Peru.

Most full day tours also include a visit to the picturesque Pisac ruins. This archaeological site is located next to the small town of Pisac. Like Ollantaytambo, the construction of Pisac is credited to Inca Pachacutec. The archeological complex comprises numerous terraces, small houses, and an astronomical observatory.

During our Full Day Sacred Valley Tour you will discover the rich history of the ancient Inca Empire. You will be traversing the jaw dropping Andean landscapes on your way to the mysterious Inca sites of the Sacred Valley.

We recommend you to visit the Sacred Valley during the dry season, between April and October. During the rain season, the archeological sites of the Sacred Valley become difficult to visit. Also, the landscapes are difficult to appreciate due to the mist and rain.

Full DayCusco - Sacred Valley

Chinchero

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 8:30 am in our private vehicle. Then, we will drive to Chinchero town. Once there, we will have a guided tour of the beautiful Chinchero church. Afterwards, we will visit the nearby ruins of the Royal Palace of Tupac Inca Yupanqui, one of the last rulers of the Inca Empire.

Ollantaytambo

After exploring Chinchero, we will drive through the sinuous roads of the Sacred Valley towards Ollantaytambo. This archeological site is famous for its long stone staircases. It is worth noting that some sections of Ollantaytambo are incompleted. During the tour you will find giant stone blocks that were never used in the construction of this ancient Inca site.

Urubamba

After our guided tour of Ollantaytambo, we will have a buffet lunch at the cozy town of Urubamba. Urubamba is located in the lowest zone of the Sacred Valley, so the weather is warmer than in the rest of the valley.

Pisac

After having our delicious lunch, we will drive to the picturesque Pisac town. Here, we will visit the nearby Pisac Inca ruins. You will have a guided tour of the main Inca monuments, such as the Inca neighborhoods, the astronomical observatory, and the royal residences.

Finally, we will go back in our private vehicle to Cusco city. We will be arriving there around 6:00 pm.
