Cahuachi was a ceremonial center built by the Nazca civilization around the year 100. The namesake of the archeological site means “the place where the seers gather”. It is believed that Cahuachi had a relatively small population, and that the site was a peregrination center.
The Cantalloc Aqueducts are an ancient irrigation system. Historians estimate that they were built approximately 2 thousand years ago. Around 46 aqueducts have been discovered, however just 23 of them are still functioning. The Cantalloc Aqueducts allowed the development of agriculture in the middle of the Nazca desert.
The Chauchilla Cemetery is located 30 km (18 miles) from Nazca City. Some archeologists propose that the cemetery was built by the Huari or the Nazca civilization between II BCE and IX CE. Numerous mummies in good condition have been found on the site. This has been possible due to the arid and dry climate of the Nazca desert.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Ica at 10:00 pm. Then, we will drive to the Cahuachi ruins. This archeological center is one of the most important Nazca sites in Peru. We will explore the Cahuachi pyramid and the ceremonial buildings. Then, we will go to a local restaurant to have lunch.
After lunch, we will drive to the Cantalloc aqueducts. We will explore this ancient network of underground water deposits. Some of these aqueducts are still used by local farmers to grow their crops. Then, we will continue our tour to the Chauchilla Cemetery. This place is an ancient Nazca necropolis which houses hundreds of mummies. Some of the tombs are 1000 years old.
After exploring Chauchilla, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Ica. You will be arriving in Ica around 18:00 pm.
