Our full day Vinicunca Tour takes you to one of the most beautiful attractions in Cusco, Peru. Vinicunca is the most famous Rainbow Mountain in southern Peru. It reaches an altitude of 5200 meters (17000 ft) above sea level.
Vinicunca is famous for its colorful surface, which is covered in purple, green, and red tones. In the past, this wonderful place could only be visited as part of the 4-day Ausangate Trek. Nowadays, Vinicunca can be explored in just one day, after traveling by car to Cusipata town, where the trail head to the rainbow mountain is located.
The strange colors of Vinicunca have a geological origin. The multicolored surface of Vinicunca is the result of thousands of years of mineral accumulation. Most of these minerals were deposited by the nearby glaciers.
Before attempting to take this tour, it is recommended to spend some days in Cusco to acclimate your body to the Andean environment. By doing this, you will avoid suffering from altitude sickness.

Your Hotel in Cusco City
8:30 am
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco city at 4:30 am. Then, we will travel in our private vehicle for around 2.5 hours to Cusipata town. We will stop there for around 30 minutes to have breakfast. Then, we will begin our full day tour to Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain.
We will be hiking through the incredible landscapes of the Red Valley. This place receives its name due to the numerous red hills that surround the trail. Like Vinicunca, the Red Valley’s color is the result of thousands of years of geological activity. The main mineral responsible for the reddish color of the valley is iron.
After walking for around 2 hours, we will arrive at Vinicunca. You will have free time to appreciate the stunning surroundings of the mountain. Our tour guide will also explain to you the history and cultural importance of Vinicunca.
Then, we will hike back to Cusipata town, where we will have lunch. Finally, we will board our private vehicle to return to Cusco city. We will be arriving there around 6:00 pm.
